$5000 = Goal Achieved! We did it!

 Making the first deposit!
In March, I set out to raise $5000 by September 23.  Because of your support, WE not only reached this goal, but exceeded it!  Fundraising came in so many forms--a garage sale, Chelsea's Instagram shop (@thekeycloset), Meredith's Stella and Dot fundraiser and of course, many personal contributions from countless supportive friends.

We will be highlighting donors in the coming months with our "Why I'm Leaving a Legacy" posts on Wednesdays. Until then, thank you to everyone who contributed and to everyone who will contribute in the future.

The Invisible Achievement Gap

A new report highlights the educational plight that children in foster care face on a daily basis, which ultimately affects them for a lifetime.

"This report, The Invisible Achievement Gap, Part 1: Education Outcomes of Students in Foster Care in California’s Public Schools, sponsored by the Stuart Foundation, underscores and refines the message from a growing body of research literature that students in foster care constitute a distinct subgroup of academically at-risk students—a message that has not yet been clearly or fully translated from research to policy to practice."

Read the report here. Thank you to the Stuart Foundation for its commitment to improving educational outcomes for children in foster care!

Fundraiser by the Beach

On Saturday, a team of Legacy supporters hosted a yard sale to benefit Legacy School for Girls!

Shoppers from South Orange County purchased many amazing items at low prices, and all money raised is going directly to Legacy School!

We raised over $1000 and had a blast doing it! Legacy School is blessed to have so many supporters at this early stage, and we are thrilled to be making so much progress! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us!

Giveaways!

One of the values of Legacy School is giving. To thank our loyal supporters and to bring new supporters into our community, we are doing giveaways through various social media sites.

The Key Closet is a Legacy School social enterprise. It sells used children's clothing on Instagram (@thekeycloset--follow us!) and all of the sales go directly to Legacy School. We recently did a Bla Bla doll giveaway for our loyal Key Closet shoppers. Our winner reports that she loves the Key Closet because of our great prices and cute items, and because the sales support girls in need! Thank you to everyone who entered!

Stay tuned for another giveaway by Stella & Dot Stylist Meredith Yates in the near future! Meredith will also be doing an online fundraiser for Legacy School in the fall. Check out Meredith's jewels and get excited!

We have SO much in store for our supporters! We can't thank everyone enough for your #legacylove!
